The mother of two daughters listened in shock in court Wednesday to details of how her children were allegedly abused by a Bay Shore woman who was supposed to be caring for them.
Alicia Graham is accused of beating the two daughters of Olga Tricoche while caring for them. Tricoche's brother Hector and Graham had taken custody of the two girls while their mother received treatment for bipolar disorder.
Police say the girls were in bad shape when they found them in a car with the couple two weeks ago.
"Both had black eyes, severe bruising, swelling to their face," says prosecutor Andrea O'Halloran. "The 1-year-old had a severe cut to her lip that was infected to the point of being green."
Hector Tricoche and Graham also have a 22-month-old son together. Police say Graham's mother Tara tried to hide the child from authorities in a suitcase when officers went to investigate on a tip. When police found the boy, he was covered in feces and urine.
Alicia Graham is charged with child endangerment and two counts of assault. Hector Tricoche and Tara Graham are charged with child endangerment. All three were arraigned Wednesday and have pleaded not guilty. They are due back in court July 13.
All of the children are recovering and have been placed in foster care.
