The three people arrested in connection to a home invasion in Mineola were arraigned in Central Islip Tuesday.
Police say Arlene Morel, of Bay Shore, Malik Taylor, of Medford, and Mark Coleman, of Selden, led them on a chase through Mineola after a violent robbery at an apartment on Lincoln Avenue Monday.
Detectives say Morel, 22, met the 41-year-old victim online. Officials say it's not clear what their relationship was, but they say she had been to his apartment several times before the incident. Inspector Kenneth Lack says Morel called the victim 20 minutes before the alleged robbery.
Officials say the group held the victim at gunpoint, beat him and robbed him.
Lack says the group dragged a safe containing thousands of dollars out of the apartment and took off in a 2007 Audi. He says they refused to pull over for police and rammed into two police vehicles in an effort to escape. They eventually crashed into a livery cab a short time later and were arrested near the south service road of the LIE and Route 107. Officials say no one was hurt.
Lack says police are applying for a search warrant to open the contents of the safe, which is still in the vehicle.
The three suspects face burglary, robbery, grand larceny and conspiracy charges. Morel was ordered held on a $250,000 cash bail or bond. Taylor, 21, and Coleman, 22, were ordered held on $500,000 cash or bond, according to the Nassau County District Attorney's Office.
The group is due back in court on Thursday.
