$2.2M in state funding coming to LI religious schools for security
Officials say more than $2 million is coming to 45 Long Island religious schools and institutions to improve security.
The move is part of a state grant aimed at preventing hate crimes at facilities based on their ideology or teachings.
Gov. Andrew Cuomo made the announcement Wednesday at the Hebrew Academy of Five Towns and Rockaway in Lawrence.
The Mid-Island Y JCC in Plainview is among those receiving funding.
As News 12 has reported, there have been numerous bomb threats there.
