A teenager who ran away from a hospital in Katonah, New York was found in Wilton Tuesday morning, police say.

Just after 9 a.m., officers received a call from a homeowner who saw a suspicious individual on their neighbor's property. When the caller confronted the person, they ran into the woods.

During the incident, police received multiple calls from residents who saw the individual moving through yards and properties in the area.

At 10:25 a.m., officers found the person in a wooded area on Middlebrook Farm Road. Police say the person exited the woods and was safely detained.

Police determined the individual was a 17-year-old boy who left a hospital that specializes in behavior health treatment Monday evening.

Police say the incident was not criminal.

They add that the juvenile was taken to a hospital to be evaluated and receive care. Law enforcement in New York assisted officers to return the boy back to the state.
