Students in Middlesex County are getting a hands-on science lesson through the Curiosity Cube, a mobile science lab that brings STEM activities to children.
The 22-foot, solar-powered traveling science lab is designed to inspire children ages 8 to 13 to explore science and consider careers in STEM fields.
The lab visited Greater Brunswick Charter School in New Brunswick on Monday, with another visit scheduled Tuesday at a school in Plainfield.
The MilliporeSigma Curiosity Cube, supported by EMD Electronics, allows students to explore synthetic biology through three interactive experiments featuring learning tools, gadgets and puzzles. The activities encourage students to apply scientific principles to real-world concepts and challenges.
“Volunteering at the Curiosity Cube is one of the most positive experiences we can have, especially in our community, because we’re trying to spark curiosity in the next generation of scientists and inspire any child who wants to learn more about science,” said Areej Nitworski, a volunteer with the mobile science lab.
