Long Island hockey players play 24-hour marathon match for local charities
The annual Labor Day weekend game by Hockey Helps has players skating for 24 straight hours of hockey. The game was held at the Dix Hills Ice Rink near Vanderbilt Parkway.

The annual Labor Day weekend game by Hockey Helps has players skating for 24 straight hours of hockey. The game was held at the Dix Hills Ice Rink near Vanderbilt Parkway.
The organization also supports children and young people facing illness, economic hardship, and other challenges.
"We've been doing this for 13 years, playing hockey and raising money for local charities. It's really a grassroots effort and when we're done today, we'll have raised more than 7 million dollars since we started," said Jim Flanagan, president and founder of Hockey Helps.
