The search for a murder suspect continues days after a woman was found dead inside her Sayville home.
As the investigation continues, friends and community members are remembering Rachel Frislid as a hardworking, dedicated and compassionate person who made a lasting impact on those around her.
Eileen Tyznar, administrator of the Sayville Chamber of Commerce, said Frislid was known for her positive spirit and easygoing nature.
“Beautiful soul. Would do anything for anybody. And always with a laugh and a smile," Tyznar reminisced. "Dedicated. I don't think I've ever met a harder-working mom, business owner, and of course, friend. She will be missed."
Tyznar said she and Frislid were both involved with the Chamber of Commerce, but their friendship goes back much further. She said she has known Frislid since junior high school.
Comments left on the Chamber's Facebook post about Frislid's death highlighted the impact she had on the Sayville community and the many lives she touched.
“We're very fortunate, although it was way too short, to have Rachel in our lives. Whoever lives she touched, she definitely left a mark,” Tyznar said.
Tyznar said she hopes Frislid will be remembered for who she was rather than the tragic circumstances surrounding her death.
She also hopes to organize a vigil in Frislid's honor in the near future.
