Police arrested a South Hempstead woman who they say assaulted another woman early Sunday morning.
Nassau police say 27-year-old Carolynne Alvarez was involved in a physical altercation with another 27-year-old woman at 681 Willis St. around 4 a.m. She was allegedly attempting to strike the woman with a broken glass bottle and struck her fingers to cause a minor laceration.
Alvarez then sprayed an unknown chemical substance into an officer's face while she was being put into custody, according to police.
Alvarez also allegedly kicked another officer's knee while she was being taken to an ambulance.
Police say Alvarez and the officers were taken to local hospitals for treatment.
She is charged with assaults on a police officer, assault, menacing, obstructing governmental administration and resisting arrest.
Alvarez will be arraigned on Monday at the First District Court in Hempstead.
