Fordham resident Nellie Chacon says she said she has not been able to use her gas stove in her kitchen since the summer of 2022.

The issues started when a storm caused a rooftop fire at her building along E. 188th Street.

Chacon said since then she has only received empty promises from Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation.

"He always come with the same thing. 'Oh we're gonna put an electric stove' but when? That's the problem," questioned Chacon.

Back in May, News 12 spoke to Robert Donovan, the director of Construction Services at Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation.

During the interview, Donovan explained Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation, a nonprofit who oversees the building, had hoped to have the gas restored to the building by the end of June.

Chacon said the gas has yet to be turned on.

News 12 went to the Fordham Bedford Housing Corporation on Wednesday requesting to speak to Donovan once more.

Donovan told News 12 due to legal reasons, he could not speak on the issue.

Since News 12's first segment aired in May, Chacon said the housing corporation has only provided another electric hot plate for her to cook with.

She said she was also very frustrated about the likelihood of not being able to cook large meals for her family, especially for the upcoming holiday seasons.

News 12 emailed and called the NYC Housing Preservation & Development about this issue and was told it is looking into the matter.
