A New York City judge ruled on Monday to temporarily block Mayor Zohran Mamdani's pied-à-terre tax.
It's a surcharge that targets secondary homes worth more than $5 million and co-ops or condos worth $1 million or more.
About 17,000 property owners received the notices.
The judge argued the city didn't explain why certain homeowners were flagged and why anyone who missed the deadline to file for an exemption would have to pay up.
