The driver of the car associated with the deadly shooting of NYPD Det. Jonathan Diller pleaded guilty on Wednesday to a weapon-possession charge.

Lindy Jones admitted to driving with a loaded 9mm pistol, according to Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz.

Jones, 43, is a co-defendant of Guy Rivera, who was convicted of aggravated manslaughter, attempted murder and criminal possession of a weapon in April. Rivera was sentenced to 115 years to life in prison for fatally shooting Diller.

The gun was found in the car the day after Rivera shot and killed the Massapequa Park detective during a traffic stop on March, 25, 2024.

That day, Jones and Rivera had been walking together when a police sergeant noticed what appeared to be a gun-shaped bulge in Rivera’s sweatshirt. The two then got into a vehicle and officers approached.

Diller ordered Rivera to roll down the window and get out, but he did not comply. Jones also refused to unlock the car, prompting an officer to reach inside and open it.

Diller then opened the passenger door and again told Rivera to exit the vehicle. Instead, Rivera pulled a .380-caliber semi-automatic handgun from his pocket and fatally fired at Diller. He then pointed the gun at another officer's chest and pulled the trigger, but the weapon jammed.

Both men were taken into custody at the scene.

A search of the vehicle later uncovered a second loaded gun in the glove compartment with its serial number scratched off.

Jones is scheduled to be sentenced in July and faces five years in prison.
