Police are searching an unidentified individual responsible for attacking a man with a knife in broad daylight on May 18.
Investigators say a 22-year-old man was approached by the attacker on E 167th St and River Ave. at around 12:30 p.m.
The suspect displayed a knife and then slashed the victim in the face.
The 22-year-old was taken to a local hospital, in stable condition. Meanwhile, the attacker took off down E 167th St and remains out there.
On Monday, one neighbor told us they were alarmed to hear about the incident taking place steps from where they take the train every day.
"Broad daylight is crazy...it's different if it was at night, but during the day? Where’s the help, where's the support. That’s crazy especially in the Bronx," said Ron.
According to police data, assaults are down by 1% in the 44th Precinct, but Ron says the violence continues in the neighborhood and more police presence could make a difference. "That would help honestly, police presence deters some crimes so even them being here might have stopped that or prolonged it to later."
Police encourage anyone with information to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline.
