A 22-year-old man was charged in connection with a drag racing incident in Queens that left a ring of fire burning in the street, according to authorities.

The NYPD arrested and charged Asil Assaidi from Morris Park with reckless endangerment, riot, criminal mischief and other charges for his role in Saturday’s car meet up in Middle Village.

He is one of eight people that the police want to connect with. Video posted by the NYPD on x shows that the incident shutdown streets, and a ring of fire was seen on video a part of the chaotic scene.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica S. Tisch says that "too often there are no consequences in the criminal justice system for this type of outrageous behavior. Clearly, it’s time for that to change. My hope and expectation is that Asil Assaidi will be held fully accountable for his actions."

Police are also looking for people who they say jumped on the hood of an NYPD vehicle and cracked the windshield.

The NYPD says it has a robust and aggressive plan to deter and stop car meet-ups. This year, they shut down 61 incidents, making 51 arrests and seizing 62 cars.
