A Hudson Valley bride says she’s out more than $1,500 after the company she hired to film her wedding suddenly shut down—leaving her without a videographer just weeks before her big day.

Jaclyn Krauss, 31, who recently moved to Rockland County, is set to get married on June 27. She is an elementary school teacher in the Chester Union Free School District.

Krauss says she booked Yours Truly Media for wedding videography after finding the company on The Knot, a popular wedding‑planning website. The California‑based company operates online, contracting photographers and videographers across the country to fulfill services.

Krauss says she paid more than $3,000 for the service. She tells News 12 she initially paid a deposit in early 2025, then paid the remaining balance in December after receiving an email from the company offering a discount to pay in full.

“I thought everything was set,” she said.

But just weeks later, Krauss says she received an email from Yours Truly Media saying the company was ceasing operations and filing for bankruptcy. Since then, she says she has been unable to get in touch with anyone from the company.

“The phone was disconnected. The website was down. I couldn’t reach anyone,” she said.

News 12 also attempted to contact the company. The phone number is disconnected, the website’s contact links are inactive, and an email sent by News 12 has not been returned.

Krauss says she disputed the charges with her credit card company and was able to get part of her money back. However, she says she was denied a refund for her original deposit—more than $1,500—because it fell outside the company’s dispute window.

“They said 60 days. If I knew I was being scammed, I wouldn’t be in this situation,” she said.

Now, with her wedding just two months away, Krauss says she had to spend thousands more to book a new videographer.

“It’s disheartening because this should be the happiest time of my life,” she said.

Krauss says she researched the company before booking and saw positive reviews at the time. But more recent posts News 12 found online show complaints from other brides who say they also lost money or were unable to reach the company. Other posts suggest some photographers and videographers who worked with the company are also having trouble getting paid.

News 12 also found multiple complaints filed with the Better Business Bureau. The company is not currently rated.

Krauss says she hopes sharing her experience will help others avoid a similar situation.

“Make sure you can actually get in touch with someone,” she said.
