Van Nest Hardware restocked its shelves of rock salt ahead of Sunday's potential blizzard after it sold out of it during the late January snowstorm.

"We sold out completely during the last couple of storms," said owner William Pedone.

With a blizzard warning set to start on Sunday and carry on until Monday afternoon, Pedone restocked on rock salt and shovels. He said the last snowstorm sold nearly nine pallets of rock salt, which included about 50 bags in each pallet.

"I prepared to have enough for people and their needs, but there comes a point where it does end," he said.

Rashit Ahmad, a customer and Van Nest resident, stopped by the hardware store to pick up some last-minute essentials. Ahmad said it wasn't easy finding supplies at other stores.

"I went to like four or five stores that don't have. It's the only place I got it here," he said.

The New York City Department of Sanitation shared on X, "Salt spreaders are filled & ready. Trucks are plowed up & chained. Emergency Snow Shovelers have already been called in."
