Several tenants were told they must vacate their apartments so crews can continue repairs, forcing families to scramble for temporary housing while juggling work and daily responsibilities.
As crews went door to door seeking access to apartments, some residents posted signs asking for privacy. Meanwhile, the City of Mount Vernon released a statement saying it has requested a tenant list from the landlord to conduct wellness checks and assess additional needs, but that information has not yet been provided.
Repairs are moving forward, but for residents facing displacement, uncertainty remains.
