Man accused of stealing $2K in Hempstead bank robbery

A Hempstead man accused of robbing a Wells Fargo bank was arrested on Saturday, according to police.

Lashawn Mills, 38, entered the building on Fulton Avenue around 11:50 a.m. and approached a 78-year-old teller.

Investigators say he held his hand in his pocket, implying that he was armed.

The victim feared for her life and gave him around $2,000 before he fled the scene on foot.

Mills was identified and apprehended following a thorough investigation by Nassau police.
