A man barricaded himself inside a Bay Shore home Friday afternoon, resulting in a large police presence in the neighborhood.

Authorities say it happened at 1:30 p.m.

The Suffolk County Police Department Service Unit closed the entire block at Ohio Avenue between Connecticut and Massachusetts avenues for hours.

Police took the man into custody at around 4:30 p.m.

One neighbor says he believes a house at the center of the police response was the same residence where a police-involved shooting occurred in August 2025. Police have not confirmed this.
