Floodwaters receding as parts of southern Suffolk County brace for the next high tide

This morning, the flooding finally receded, but the threat of more water lingered.
"Those railroad ties actually just washed down from next door, I don't know," Babylon resident Christine Wiest said as she cleaned up her yard.
A coastal flood advisory is in effect for southwest Suffolk County until 8 p.m.
Officials said abnormally high tides filled the storm drainage system from the bay, which caused the flooding.
Today, Babylon Town Public Works Department Commissioner Vinny Piccoli said crews are out this afternoon ahead of the next high tide.
"Go out and inspect storm drainage systems, again clear debris; any trees that need you know, that have come down or branches or limbs that have fallen, clean all that up," he said.
While conditions later today are not expected to be as severe as Sunday and Monday, any additional water on the roads could pose challenges, particularly with more people on the roads after having a day off for Columbus Day.
