Officials are asking Long Island residents to remain at home as heavy wind and rain arrives.

Suffolk officials are tracking the weather from their emergency operations center.

They say they're concerned the storm will cause flooding on both the north and south shores.

The storm is expected to continue through Monday. Officials say to stay off the roads.n details.

"Everybody stay home, schools are closed, there's no reason to be out there unless absolutely necessary and it will make the job so much easier of keeping people safe," said Islip Town Supervisor Angie Carpenter.

Suffolk police say the roads may be dangerous during the heavy rain.

"Be mindful of driving through standing water…If you're not sure you can get through it, you probably can't, so don't try," said Suffolk Police Commissioner Kevin Catalina.

Sunday's nor'easter prompted Gov. Kathy Hochul to declare a state of emergency.
