What was supposed to be a seven-day trip to Israel for Robert Reichelsheimer and his family from Commack has turned into having to rush to basements and bomb shelters on a daily basis.

“We have suffered dozens of actual attacks resulting in us having to go to basements," he said.

Reischelscheimer says all flights from Israel to the U.S. are canceled and he doesn’t know when he can come home.

As the situation in the Middle East develops, Reichelsheimer says he feels abandoned.

“We have not heard a single word from either senator, both publicly or privately, via email, text or telephonically, in response to our cries for help," he said.

On Long Island police say there are no credible threats in Nassau or Suffolk following Saturday night's U.S. strikes on nuclear sites in Iran, but residents can expect to see increased patrols around critical infrastructure and houses of worship.

Rabbi Yakov Saacks with the Chai Center in Dix Hills says they are increasing security at the synagogue. In the aftermath of the strike, the rabbi says we should practice peace here on Long Island.

“For the protesters and neighbors in this community, other communities – this war is 5,000 miles away. We should just be neighborly to one another," he said.
