A fire tore through a home Friday night on Milligan Lane in West Islip. There were no injuries.

"It was chaos but just glad everybody's OK," said neighbor Kelly Lubrico.

The fire broke out around 11:30 p.m. and fire crews were able to bring it under control.

Artie Soto lives next door and says the heat from the fire warped the siding of his house, burned down his fence and damaged part of his garage. The side of his car parked near the burning house was also damaged.

The homeowner said he made it out of the house and went to the hospital as a precaution. His brother says he lives next door. He says the house was their uncle's and has been in the family for about 70 years.

The two brothers have lived on the block for decades themselves. They said a neighbor a few houses down will help them rebuild.

"Everyone's been really helpful so far. I have room here. He can stay here," said Christes Michaelos, the homeowner's brother.

The official cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
