Lamar Jewelry on 5th Avenue was the latest target on the well-known jewelers strip in Bay Ridge.

Store owner Fawzi Ayub tells News 12 that he was inside of his shop helping a customer on Saturday night, when three people wearing masks came up to his storefront windows, and started destroying them with sledgehammers.

Luckily for Ayub, the would-be thieves walked away empty handed. However, he now has to replace his tri-layered glass which he says costs $15,000 to repair. He says it was installed two weeks ago.

For now, Ayub anticipates he will also lose out on thousands of dollars of business in the coming weeks. He says he cannot reopen until new glass is manufactured for his windows and installed.

Back in December, Pyramids Jewelry, a few doors down, experienced the same thing. Jewelers on the block told News 12 that they would like to see more police in the area to deter thieves from aiming that their stores.

Police say three individuals are wanted for the attempted break-in that happened on Saturday.
