Forum held to inform seniors about elder justice issues

Seniors are among the groups that scammers prey on.
Attorney General William Tong spoke to seniors on Tuesday at Union Baptist Church in Stamford about elder justice issues.
“I feel supported that’s the most important thing in being supported,” said Margaret Raye, of Stamford.
“That’s a lot of information and that’s highly necessary for me,” said Yvonne Jones.
Attorney General Tong also brought up financial fraud and abuse, “It costs seniors in America more than $38 billion a year, and that’s probably a gross underestimate of what the actual number is.”
The Office of the Attorney General, in cooperation with the Coalition for Elder Justice in Connecticut (CEJC), launched the Elder Justice Hotline in 2021 to help older adults in Connecticut seek information, assistance, and justice.
