Several thousand baby bundles have been given to families in need, thanks to the Rockville Centre-based nonprofit Love, Nana.

It all began when Joan Hyland’s grandson, Ryan White, wanted to help an employee at a local coffee shop who had a baby on the way.

Ryan said he told his grandmother - and the rest is history.

Joan, or “Nana,” began packing bundles of donated gently used (and sometimes new) clothing out of her home.

"There are people out there that are scraping the bottom of the barrel. And if I can help a little bit with that, this much, that's all I can ever hope to do," says Hyland.

The nonprofit now has its own small space in Rockville Centre.

It falls under the umbrella of “Backyard Players and Friends,” a community-based program for young adults with developmental disabilities.
