News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Addison Green says it will be feeling muggy for the rest of the week with chances for rain over the weekend.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• There will be a hazy and reddish sky as wildfire smoke from Canada drifts toward Long Island on Thursday. It will not pose a threat to the air quality.

• Small shower chances are around in the afternoon and early evening hours Thursday.

• Friday is mostly sunny but will feel muggier than it has in the past several days.

• A storm system will move in from the west and aid in the rising weekend rain chances. On-and-off rain is expected for Sunday with showers arriving in the late afternoon to evening hours Saturday.

• Hurricane Ernesto will move away from Puerto Rico and head north towards Bermuda over the next several days, where it will continue to strengthen along the way. It does not pose a threat to the northeast but will churn up wave activity in the Atlantic Ocean and Long Island Sound, as well as create breezy winds Sunday and Monday.

SATURDAY: Partly to mostly cloudy with a chance for late spotty showers. Highs: Upper 70s to low 80s. Lows: Upper 60s to low 70s.
