News 12 Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Sam Augeri says there is a chance for scattered showers in the overnight hours into Wednesday morning before hot and humid weather heading into the weekend.

HEADLINES:

• Scattered showers with the chance of a thunderstorm returns overnight into Wednesday morning. A few more storms could pop up late in the day.

• Hot and very humid weather arrives for the weekend with the chance of pop-up storms but most of the time it will be dry with sunshine.

• Relief comes early next week.

OVERNIGHT: Mostly cloudy with the chance of scattered showers by daybreak. Lows near 72 degrees with south winds 5 to 15 mph. Sunrise: 5:48 a.m.

WEDNESDAY: Warm and humid with the chance of scattered showers and storms in the morning and then again late in the day. Partly to mostly sunny during the afternoon. Highs near 83 degrees. South wind 10 to 20 mph. Sunset: 8:08 p.m. Partly cloudy and muggy at night with lows near 73 degrees and south winds 5 to 15 mph.

THURSDAY: Mostly sunny, hot and humid. Highs near 89 degrees. Lows near 73 degrees.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny, hot and humid. Highs near 88 degrees. Lows near 73 degrees.

SATURDAY: Mostly sunny, hot and humid. Chance for pop up showers and storms. Highs near 86 degrees. Lows near 73 degrees.
