For this week’s Paws & Pals, some pups from the Town of North Hempstead Animal Shelter are looking to finally find their forever home.

BAMA

1- to 2-year-old Husky mix Bama is a young, energetic, fun-loving, and affectionate guy that is sure to bring joy to a new adoptive family. Bama came to us all the way from Georgia through the shelter’s rescue program! He may be playful, but he also loves to relax and be pampered with a long brushing session to get that extra hair out. He's become a fast favorite with our volunteers who have described him as goofy but very attentive, treat motivated, and willing to please. He has learned several commands in the short time he's been with us! We believe Bama would make a great addition to a relatively active household dedicated to continuing his training.

WINNIE

Who could resist to this 1-year-old Beagle? This girl is absolutely lovely and is thrilled to meet all people, adults and children alike, and gets along wonderfully with other dogs. As a sporting breed, she does have quite a bit of energy, and would probably love an active canine companion to get her wiggles out! Like most puppies, Winnie will chew stuff she’s not supposed to if unsupervised. However, we feel she would thrive in an active home with a bit of patience to work through, or possibly even just wait out, the chewing behavior. Winnie is crate trained, house broken, and knows many commands.

COCO

2-year-old Husky/ Chow Chow mix. Beautiful Coco is a 2-year-old Husky/Chow Chow mix that was surrendered due to family members having allergies. She has a typical personality of the two breeds- energetic and fun but can be aloof and independent sometimes. She does enjoy short petting sessions and will rub on your legs like a cat! Coco lived with another small dog in her house but seems to be choosy at the shelter when meeting new dogs- a meeting with any other dogs in the house is required during the adoption appointment. Coco, like most huskies, has a prey drive and should not live with cats or other small pets in the home. Coco’s sense of adventure sometimes leads her to want to go on solo explorations, so if you are in a home with a backyard we require a fully secured 6 foot fence.
