A Freeport woman is accused of driving drunk and slamming into a pole with a baby inside the car early Wednesday.
Police say Stephanie Almonte refused to give the 1-year-old boy to paramedics after crashing near Chance Drive in Oceanside at around 2 a.m.
News 12 was told Almonte and the baby were eventually taken to the hospital. There is no word on their conditions.
Almonte was arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated, endangering the welfare of a child and several other charges.
