A bitter blast has arrived across Long Island - and it's not expected to go anywhere anytime soon.

While one Long Islander described the weather as "terrible" and another told News 12 it was too cold to talk, Glen Head resident Linda Mincieli wasn't bothered by the chill.

"As long as there's no snow, we're fine," she said.

To avoid hypothermia, experts say it's best to stay indoors, but if you must go outside, dress in layers and take breaks and go back inside to warm up.

The Nassau County SPCA urges residents not to leave dogs outside for an extended period. More than 15 minutes is too long to be outside in temperatures like these.
