In its first year as an elevated event on the PGA tour, the Travelers Championship raised a record $3 million dollars for local charities. Because of that success, the PGA Tour has named it one of eight signature events for the 2024 season. Instead of of a standard 160 golfer field with a cut, next year's tournament will be condensed to about 70-80 golfers without a cut.
Organizers say fans will get to see the best golfers in the world compete for four full days - almost like an all-star game. "I'm excited for the charities we work with, I'm excited for the economic impact that this means to the state of Connecticut, just the publicity the state gets from a visitor and tourism standpoint. I think that it just keeps it at a level that was a brand new level for us last year and it's going to keep us at that level moving forward," said tournament director Nathan Grube.
The 2024 Travelers Championship will take place June 20 throughJune 23, one week after the U.S. Open.
