Police say they have arrested a woman who stole a car with a sleeping 7-year-old inside in Riverhead.
They say Shawanna James stole the car on Christmas Day when it was left outside a convenience store.
The car was later found at Phillips Avenue Elementary School in Flanders with the child still sleeping inside.
The child's mother is facing child endangerment charges. Police say she left the car unlocked and running.
