A crash in Hempstead on Friday night left two people dead and four others, including two children, hospitalized.

Detectives say a 2005 Chrysler was traveling eastbound on Fulton Avenue at around 11 p.m. when it collided with another car on Hilton Avenue. The Chrysler drove off from the scene and then hit three other vehicles after failing to stop at a traffic light.

The Chrysler then caught fire and became fully engulfed by flames. Authorities say two people were trapped inside the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

A good Samaritan who wanted to remain anonymous leaped into action to help a family who was involved in the pile-up crash.

"The mom was like, 'Help me, help me and my kids, my kids,' so I was like 'OK, don't worry about it. I will help you,'" she recounted.

The good Samaritan revealed she works for an airline and is trained for emergencies. She said she witnessed the fire engulfing the Chrysler.

"It's a little bit traumatizing. I couldn't help the people in the car that burned…I'm just devastated right now," she said.

The good Samaritan is also bilingual and helped the family communicate in Spanish with first responders.

"I ended up talking to the police officers and helping them out. The situation was just horrible," she said.

Police said the two children and two adults were taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. They added that everyone else involved in the crash refused medical attention at the scene.
