Storm Watch Team Meteorologist Alex Calamia says there will be strong thunderstorms between midnight and 7 a.m. across Long Island.
Winds will be sustained at 25 to 35 mph through the Monday morning commute with gusts over 50 mph possible.
Urban flooding is expected from strong storms during the commute. 2-3" is expected in Nassau County with 2" in Suffolk.
Tides on the South Shore and East End will be up to 3 feet higher than usual. High tide happens in mid-late morning.
Coastal flood watch for North Shore has been changed to an Advisory for 1-2 ft higher than usual tide.
Conditions improve late morning but showers will linger on and off until the afternoon.

MONDAY: Thunderstorms for the morning commute. Gusty winds expected to reach 50 mph. Rain will become more scattered in the afternoon, but dry conditions won't return until the evening.


MONDAY NIGHT: Cloudy and cooler with lows in the mid 30s.
TUESDAY: A mix of clouds and sun. Much cooler with highs in the low 40s.
WEDNESDAY: Ample sunshine. Seasonable with highs in the low 40s.
REST OF THE WEEK: Dry through Christmas next Monday.
