Crews are on standby at the Highway Department in Hempstead.

Town Supervisor Don Clavin says workers have been notified to be ready to come in if the storm worsens.

“We going to have 50 trucks on standby with another 50 available,” he said. “We have a crew of 30 to 75 people.

He says departments across Nassau County have also been working together to get ahead of any weather-related problems and emergencies.

“We have been in communication with the Nassau County executive with the police department as well as PSEG, National Grid and the Long Island Power Authority. All these entities are working together to keep Long Islanders safe,” said Clavin.
