MTA board approves congestion pricing plan for New York City, citing future subway improvements

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority has passed the congestion pricing plan during Wednesday's board meeting.
The MTA held a board meeting to discuss the pros and cons of the plan. Nearly everyone on the MTA board says it'll be a good initiative as the extra money will go toward subway improvements, even if drivers have to pay a little extra.
The plan from the Traffic Mobility Review Board would see cars entering Manhattan south of 60th Street pay $15, trucks pay between $24 and $36, depending on their size, motorcycles paying $7.50, ride-shares paying $2.50 and taxis paying $1.50 during the day.
There will now be a final vote after the 60-day public comment period following Wednesday's approval.
