A 14-year-old is accused of robbing and assaulting two individuals who tried to give him a ride to Freeport. He was slated to be in Family Court on Sunday.

Police say the victims, a man and woman, were sitting in a car outside a Uniondale McDonald's early Saturday morning when they were approached by the suspect.

The teenager told them that he had been robbed and asked for a ride to the Freeport train station, according to authorities.

Police say the two agreed to help him and allowed him in the car. During the drive, the suspect began to punch both victims in the head and attempted to steal their phone.

The teenager also choked the driver and held a screwdriver to his neck, according to police.

Authorities say the suspect then caused the vehicle to crash into a church at 110 Nassau Road. The impact caused extensive damage to the building.

"That's crazy to have something like that happen, you try to help someone and the same time you go and rob them," says Roosevelt resident George Nimir.

Following the crash, the male victim tried to apprehend the 14-year-old. Police say suspect responded by striking him in the head with a metal pipe.

Police say the suspect was later found hiding on the side of a garage on West Fulton Street.

The 14-year-old was charged with four counts of assault in the second degree, robbery in the first degree, two counts of reckless endangerment in the second degree, two counts of menacing in the second degree, and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.
