Fire marshal: Cedarhurst fire may be linked to lithium-ion batteries

A New York state fire marshal tells News 12 a fire that broke out at 437 Arbuckle Ave. in Cedarhurst may be linked to lithium-ion batteries.

Close to 80 firefighters from a neighboring departments battled the intensive smoke and flames.

"Upon arrival, we found a fully involved garage fire with extension to the two-story private dwelling," says Chief Michael Beilinson, of the Lawrence-Cedarhurst Fire Department.

Officials say the family was not home when the fire broke out.

Authorities say no one was injured at the scene.
