Suffolk legislator introduces bill to ban vaping device that resemble school supplies, thumb drives

Suffolk County Legislator Jim Mazzarella introduced a bill Monday that would ban vaping devices that resemble highlighters, thumb drives and other school supplies.
"What the manufacturer is trying to do is hook new smokers at a younger age," says Mazzarella.
Under the legislation, businesses would be prohibited from selling these types of vaping pens in their stores.
"The vapes look like highlighters, many kids are using them these days which is really bad," says Manorville college student McKenzie Blando.
Stores found selling them face a $1,000 fine for the first offense. Suffolk County legislators are expected to vote on the bill sometime next month.
