Couple pleads guilty to polluting protected wetlands in Mastic Beach

As part of their plea agreements, the couple has to pay over $2,600 in fines, cover the costs of a daylong cleanup of the wetlands and plant over 50 trees in the pine barrens as part of a reforesting initiative.

A Holbrook couple pleaded guilty to dumping construction debris into protected wetlands in Mastic Beach.

Someone caught Fabio and Judith Monasterolo polluting the wetlands and sent the photos into police.

As part of their plea agreements, the couple has to pay over $2,600 in fines, cover the costs of a daylong cleanup of the wetlands and plant over 50 trees in the pine barrens as part of a reforesting initiative.

They also have to write a letter of apology for flipping off the person who took the photos.
