Opening statements began Tuesday for the retrial of a Patchogue woman accused of killing anti-gang activist Evelyn Rodriguez.

Prosecutors say Ann Marie Drago ran over and killed Rodriguez during an argument in Brentwood in 2018.

Drago was convicted of criminally negligent homicide at her first trial. A state appeals court tossed out the conviction last year, claiming that the prosecutor mischaracterized evidence and confused the jury.
