A teacher in the Herricks Union Free School District has been pulled from the classroom, according to the superintendent.
In a message to the Herricks School District Community, Dr. Tony Sinanis, Superintendent of Schools of the Herricks School District said the following:
"It has come to our attention that there is a video currently circulating on various platforms that allegedly features one of our teachers. We understand that the contents of this video are disturbing and upsetting. In light of this, we are conducting a full investigation into the matter and the teacher has been removed from the classroom. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding during this challenging time. We remain committed to upholding the values of our district and ensuring the well-being of our students."
News 12 spoke with a Herricks parent who received the message from the superintendent in an email.
The parent said, "We're kind of in limbo and we don't really know what's going on, but it has to be something serious if the teacher was removed from the classroom."
The parent went on to say, "I'm really kind of waiting on the school to be as transparent as they can because it is for the safety of our children."
The Board of Education has a meeting scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Herricks Community Center, located at 999 Herricks Road.
