Officials: Teen slams stolen car into house in West Babylon

Officials say a teen crashed a stolen car into a home in West Babylon on Friday.
They say an 18-year-old crashed the vehicle into a house at Hamlin Avenue and Little East Neck Road around 3 a.m.
"As soon as we heard it, I looked out the window, we saw smoke coming out of my neighbor's house," said West Babylon resident Vivian Preciado. "It was really bad, it was so bad."
Authorities added the driver – who had three passengers-- was spotted going at a high rate of speed on Route 109. When they tried to pull him over, he fled and went through red lights and into oncoming traffic before losing control of the car and crashing it into the house and another woman's car.
The house hit has been declared unsafe. No one inside the home was hurt.
"Her bedroom is right above where it happened, so she was concerned if it did collapse and go down she could've lost her life," added West Babylon's Alycia Potter. Potter is the neighbor of the house whom the car struck. "It's tragic for everyone involved."
The driver is facing multiple charges, including reckless endangerment and criminal possession of stolen property.
News 12 was told the driver was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and that the passengers, two 15-year-olds and an 18-year-old, were treated for injuries that were not considered life threatening.
