Police: Huntington Station man killed in hit-and-run

A father of two was killed by a hit-and-run driver Sunday in Huntington Station, police say.
Suffolk County police say 48-year-old Natividad Interiano was walking across Pulaski Road at First Avenue when he was hit by a dark-colored SUV that continued eastbound at around 9:10 p.m.
Alex Murario saw Interiano lying in the road after he was hit.
“The car left. Quick, you know. I just called the police. When the ambulance coming, he died," said Murario.

Neighbors say the area sandwiched between busy Depot Road and Route 110 is poorly lit. There is also no crosswalk.
The victim’s family described him as a happy-go-lucky person.
“If you got to know him, you would become friends with him instantly,” says Interiano’s nephew, William Coreas. “He was very kind and warm-hearted.”
Interiano’s loved ones are now calling on the driver that hit him to come forward.
“If he is watching this broadcast, he can turn himself in,” says Jose Coreas, Interiano’s brother-in-law. “We are all humans; we all make mistakes.”
Interiano has been in the United States for 25 years, according to his family. They are hoping to have a proper funeral here and then have him sent back to his native country of El Salvador, where his mother lives, to be laid to rest.
The family has started a GoFundMe page to help pay for those expenses.
Suffolk County police are asking anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information that could be helpful to their investigation to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.
