A North Amityville man is facing charges after detectives say he left his dog in the car on a hot day, and the dog was found dead hours later.

Suffolk County SPCA says 60-year-old Raymond Gonzalez left his 1.5-year-old German Shepherd-Husky mix named "Koko" in the car for several hours unattended.

Koko was later discovered dead.

Gonzalez was also charged for making a false statement to investigating detectives.

Gonzalez will face a judge later this month.
