Another sinkhole caused issues on Long Island’s South Shore.
Drivers were advised early Sunday morning to steer clear of Foxhurst Road in Oceanside. It was closed in both directions between Oceanside Road and Locust Avenue.
Officials say an underground water main pipe erupted and caused the road to buckle.
Crews at the scene were working since around 10 a.m. The road is now repaired and reopened in both directions.
The sinkhole was the third street to concave in Nassau County within the past two months.
In June, a 42-inch sewer line burst causing a massive sinkhole on Grand Avenue in Baldwin that sent sewage spilling into some homeowners’ backyards.
A 20-foot-deep sinkhole also broke open on Lido Boulevard due to an underground manhole failure weeks earlier.
Committees in the Nassau County legislature voted this week to authorize $15 million in funding to repair both the Baldwin and Long Beach sinkholes.
Some residents say they are concerned that the county’s underground infrastructure is too old to keep up with its current demand.
