The health departments in Nassau and Suffolk counties on Monday issued advisories against bathing at several Long Island beaches following heavy rainfall.
The advisory is based on the potential presence of bacteria in excess of New York state standards.
This advisory is issued as a precautionary measure for beaches known to be impacted by stormwater runoff caused by heavy rainfall.
In Nassau County, the 18 beaches included in the advisory are:
