The results are in, and this year, two Long Island district’s school budgets have failed.
West Hempstead’s budget failed for the second year in a row.
And Wainscott’s budget didn’t pass either after they were one of five districts looking to pierce the tax cap. That means spending more money than the state would allow.

The William Floyd district budget passed, which will give residents in the area a break on their taxes. The district says the average homeowner will see their taxes go down an estimated $1,000 a year.
