Suffolk officials and county police held a news conference this morning addressing the graffiti found at a new park in Brentwood.
Police believe multiple people were involved in vandalizing Roberto Clemente Skate Park last Thursday night into Friday.
"I feel like in Brentwood there is always graffiti, wherever you are you are going to find graffiti," said Brentwood's Jasmine Grande.
The park was shut down for four years due to tens of thousands of tons of contaminated debris was found dumped at the park. $13 million dollars was awarded to improve the park since its clean-up.
"The art in the park, on the ramps, I feel like it goes with skating," added West Babylon resident Terance Clark.
Officials did not reveal many details since surveillance video is still being reviewed, but they say they will work tirelessly to find those responsible and hold them accountable.
"Graffiti and vandalism in a skate park leads to graffiti on fences and houses, and makes people scared, and people on Long Island care about our quality of life," said Suffolk District District Attorney representative Alan Brody.
While it's an active investigation, the graffiti will be cleaned Tuesday morning and the park will reopen when it is dry possibly by the afternoon.
