A New Hyde Park woman has become a staple in the New Hyde Park community for her special services.

Christine Liu, co-founder, board member and vice chair of several associations in her district, serves others by doing whatever she can to take care of the moms in the community.

"In my culture it's really important to respect our seniors," said Liu. "We take care of them throughout their life."

Some of her acts have included proposing a new supermarket location, and even translating for immigrants.

"It's a reminder that somebody younger than us appreciates us. You see an old lady walking the street and a young man comes and helps her cross the street, Betty Leong said. "Old people welcome young people helping them."

Liu is also running for Town Council in Nassau District 4 in November.
